Hart County Community Theatre (HCCT) is extremely proud to announce that the Fox Theatre has chosen HCCT to receive their inaugural Fox Gives Multiyear Grant of $500k to revive and safeguard our historic theatre. This enhanced community partnership program is dedicated to
strengthening communities through theatre and HCCT is humbled to have been chosen out of all the theaters in Georgia.
HCCT formed a relationship with the Fox Theatre Institute (FTI) in the 2022 / 2023 season when they were awarded an emergency grant of $23k to tackle a plumbing issue that threatened to flood the basement and destroy all of the theatre’s assets. Since then, FTI has followed HCCT’s progress and learned about the vision to make the theatre a true center for not only high quality entertainment but also year long community events and arts education.
FTI holds Grant Workshops alongside the Georgia Council for the Arts, which HCCT Board Directors attended. They also provided connections to other theatres who have been grant recipients, in order to learn as much as possible about available funding.
After more visits and tours by FTI Leaders to HCCT, an invite was issued to the March 12 event. To great surprise and shock, the Fox Gives program was rolled out and HCCT was awarded the incredible grant. In addition, Hart County High School will be part of the All Access program, including a $5000 grant to a student for the promotion of Dramatic Arts and associated trades as a vocational track.
HCCT looks forward to strengthening connections with the City of Hartwell, the Downtown Development Authority and local business and private supporters who would like to partner alongside the Fox Theatre. By working together, HCCT can be a local resource for all citizens and produce shows, children’s camps, special community events and workshops for many years to come.
